Belgian Tiesj Benoot claimed victory on the sixth stage of Paris-Nice, which finished in Apt yesterday.

The Team Sunweb rider soloed his way to victory in the 161.5km stage with a time of 3:57:02.
Fellow teammate Michael Matthews from Australia finished 22 seconds behind, followed by EF Pro Cycling rider Sergio Higuita.
Despite crashing near the finish, Germany’s Maximilian Schachmann retained his overall lead. Benoot moved up to second and Higuita in third.
“I crashed with about 800 metres to go but I’m well. The race was full on and the guys were going full gas down,” said Schachmann.
“I had a small gap and came back but I think I was a bit too fast. I made a mistake but managed to get back on my bike.
“I still have the yellow jersey and tomorrow will certainly be a tough stage but I felt good in the last long climb. Today we rode a bit defensively but there is no doubt tomorrow will be all out.”
