Organisers of the Cape Town Cycle Tour have announced two initiatives following the cancellation of this year’s race.
The Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust today confirmed a virtual 109km tour to take place on the official route as well as a charity challenge.
This year’s tour was postponed due to Covid-19 concerns for rider safety.
A new date for the race is yet to be confirmed, but indications are it will take place in October.
The Cape Town Cycle Tour is the world’s largest timed race. First staged in 1978, the 2021 race will be the 43rd edition.
Travis Barrett (Shesha Fuels Racing) and Cherise Willeit (Customized Cycling) are the men’s and women’s reigning champions.
