South Africa’s Ryan Gibbons has been named in the UAE Team Emirates line-up for the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes et du Var race.
The three-day stage race will take place from February 19 to 21 and will be the race’s 53rd edition.
Eleven of the 19 UCI WorldTeams, eight UCI ProTeams and three UCI Continental teams will make up the 22 teams that will participate.
The race will comprise two mountain and one “hilly” stage over a total distance of just under 500km.
Gibbons will be joined in the UAE Team Emirates team by Colombian duo Camilo Ardila and Cristian Munoz, Spaniard David de la Cruz, American Joe Dombrowski, Portuguese veteran Rui Costa and Belarusian Aleksandr Riabushenko.
Twenty-six year old Gibbons, the reigning SA national road champion, signed a two-year contract with UAE Team Emirates ahead of the current season.
