The South African contingent in Cairo, Egypt, for the 15th African Continental Road Championships stamped their authority on proceedings on day one.
The team raked in no fewer than four medals – three golds and a bronze – as the annual event got under way in Sheikh Zayed City on Tuesday.
Wednesday’s day two promises to be even more lucrative for the SA squad.
With two entrants allowed in each of the individual time-trial events, the possibility exists for multiple medal hauls in the four races scheduled.
