South Africa won their first medal of the 2021 African Continental Road Championships in Cairo, Egypt, today.
The junior women’s quartet of Chanté Olivier, Amber Hindmarch, Ainsli de Beer and McKenzie Pedro won the gold medal in the team time-trial.
The race took place over a 13.5km lap.
The foursome were guaranteed a medal before taking to the start with only two countries having entered the race.
Host nation Egypt took the silver medal.
