South Africa’s elite women’s team time-trial quartet won gold at the African Continental Road Championships in Cairo, Egypt, today.
Taking to the road third out of the four countries to have entered, the foursome of Maroesjka Matthee, Carla Oberholzer, Frances Janse van Rensburg and Hayley Preen posted the fastest overall time to add to South Africa’s medal collection on day one.
Organisers mapped out a 14km circuit around Sheikh Zayed City which the elite women completed twice.
