After a breathtaking Tirreno-Adriatico and Paris-Nice in which the world’s best riders battled for stage wins in memorable fashion, cycling is set to continue with the 112th edition of Milan-San Remo, set to take place on Saturday, March 20.
Defending champion Wout van Aert, Mathieu van der Poel and world champion Julian Alaphilippe will headline the field.
Van Aert, runner-up in Tirreno-Adriatico and winner of Strade Bianche, has been in red-hot form of late while Van der Poel has once again showcased his versatility this season in the sprints, hilltop-finishes and on the cyclo-cross scene.
Alaphilippe, the 2019 winner, has recovered from a nasty fall late last year and will be one to keep a close eye on over the 299km as the Frenchman is without peer when it comes to spotting an opportunity to attack.
