Marco Joubert and partner Rudi Koen won the opening stage of the 2021 PE Plett stage race in a thrilling sprint finish at Humansdorp Rugby Club, today.
The Imbuko Giant pair edged Matt Beers and Wessel Botha on the line with both teams credited with the same finishing time – 2:58:16.
Third place went to DSV Pro Cycling’s Jacques Janse van Rensburg and Nicol Carstens in 3:05:14.
Post-race, Joubert detailed the challenges the winning duo had to overcome on the 82km opening stage.
