South Africa made it a day to remember when they swept five gold medals at the African Continental Road Championships in Cairo, Egypt, today.
Ryan Gibbons rode to victory in an inspired performance in the elite men’s individual time-trial, edging compatriot Kent Main for the gold medal over the 42km route.
The 26-year-old’s victory added to earlier gold medal wins by Chante Olivier in the junior women’s race, Pedri Crause (junior men) and Carla Oberholzer (elite women).
