South Africa’s medal-winning form at the 2021 African Continental Road Championships in Cairo, Egypt, ramped up a notch when the country took gold and silver in the elite women’s individual time-trial, today.
Carla Oberholzer took victory ahead of compatriot Frances Janse van Rensburg.
Meanwhile, Janse van Rensburg’s runner-up finish also saw the 20-year-old win the U23 gold in a race within a race.
Organisers had mapped out a 14km lap around Sheikh Zayed City which the elite women completed twice.
On Tuesday, both Oberholzer and Janse van Rensburg were part of the elite women’s gold medal winning team time-trial quartet.
