Marc Pritzen raced to victory in the men’s combined elite and U23 road race at the SA National Road Championships in Swellendam on Sunday.
What made his win even more remarkable was that Pritzen was riding in the U23 category with the Namibia-born star only due to turn 22 in August.
Pritzen, who rides for the Qhubeka-Assos continental team, took victory ahead of Willie Smit (Burgos-BH), with a well-timed attack in the final stretch of the 178km race.
Rounding out a successful day for Africa’s only UCI WorldTour team, Nicholas Dlamini claimed the bronze medal for Qhubeka-Assos.
