Hayley Preen won the women’s elite road race at SA National Road Championships champion in Swellendam on Sunday.
Capetonian Preen won the 133km event in a time of 4:18:06.
Carla Oberholzer, the 2018 national champion and pre-race favourite, finished second, two seconds behind, with Frances Janse van Rensburg rounding out the podium a further 23 seconds adrift.
With her third-place finish, Janse van Rensburg also claimed the U23 women’s title ahead of Azulde Britz and Tiffany Keep.
Riders woke to little to no wind to speak of as the race got under way in perfect conditions at 09:45.
