Hayley Preen beat pre-race favourite Carla Oberholzer in a uphill drag to the finish to win the road race title at the SA National Road Championships in Swellendam today.
The Capetonian came out on top after 133km of hard racing in a time of 4:18:06 with Oberholzer having to settle for her second runner-up finish of the championships having finished behind Candice Lill in the individual time-trial on Friday.
Frances Janse van Rensburg took third place 25 seconds behind, winning the U23 title in the process.
Second place in the U23 category went to Azulde Britz with Tiffany Keep in third.
