Caitlin Thompson was a surprise winner of the junior women’s individual time-trial on the first day of racing at the 2021 SA National Road Championships in Swellendam today.
Thompson, who wasn’t part of the SA team at the recent African Continental Road Championships in Egypt, posted the fastest time for the 15km route in wet conditions in the Western Cape town.
Her time of 25 minutes flat was 18 seconds faster than reigning African title holder Chanté Olivier.
