Storms River Traverse results & GC: Rohrer & Evans win stage two

Alexander Rohrer and Luke Evans won the second stage of the Storms River Traverse in Stormsriver, Eastern Cape, today.

The First Ascent pair, who also won stage one, completed the 43km race in 1:37:43 to beat Rogan Smart and Aidan Connelly (Bike Shop Scott Strocam). Rob and Julian Dower (Reds) rounded out the podium.

NMP’s Rosa Cilliers and Anneke Lombard (2:44:34) finished first in the women’s team event. They were followed by Sandra Myburgh and Gillian Everdij (The Girls) with Tracey Rheeder and Susan-Mary Kerr (Star South) in third.

The mixed event’s victory went to Kobus and Fienie Barnard (Giantliv) in 1:50:13. Nicky Giliomee and Tony Haralambous (Seattle Coffee/Topcopy) came in second, followed by Bernard Bravenboer and Amy Hopkins (Wet and Wild).

Stuart Biesheauvel won the solo men’s race in 1:42:33 ahead of Julien Biger and Andrew Robinson.

The women’s event was led home by Kathryn Rees in 2:17:29. She was followed by Monique Lanz and Esmari Mulder.

Rohrer and Evans maintain the overall lead in 3:42:53. Second are Smart and Aidan with the Dowers in third.

Cilliers and Lombard lead the women’s team category in 6:14:41 ahead of Myburgh and Everdij. Third are Rheeder and Kerr.

The Barnards are leading the mixed event with Giliomee and Haralambous in second and Bravenboer and Hopkins in third.

Biesheauvel also leads the solo men’s general classification in 3:45:11. He is trailed by Biger and Warren Williams.

Rees (5:18:35) lies first in the women’s overall standings, followed by Lanz and Mulder.
