Entries for the 10th edition of the Cape Pioneer Trek, which starts in Mossel Bay on October 14, will open next week.
Starting in Mossel Bay, the action will conclude in Oudtshoorn a week later after a total 495.7km of racing. The event will feature the reintroduction of a prologue and the mid-week time-trial, which proved to be so popular this year, will once again return.

A further addition will be the Cape Pioneer Trek Adventure – a four-day event within the greater Cape Pioneer Trek which will allow solo riders to join the event mid-week and experience the final four days.
This year’s event was won by Trans Baviaans winner Matt Beers and national cross-country champion Alan Hatherly. The pair won six of the seven stages to finish ahead of NAD Pro’s Nico Bell and Gawie Combrinck.
Bell completed his fifth Cape Pioneer Trek this year and complimented the variety of terrain.
“I love the variety of the terrain we race over – starting at the coast, going through the forests in George and finishing in the rough Karoo. It is definitely one of my favourite races of the year,” said the national marathon champion.
The women’s race was won by Ariane Lüthi and Amy McDougall, who overcame the trying seven days ahead of Robyn de Groot and Sabine Spitz.
Participants will be able to secure their start on the event’s website when entries open November 28 at 12pm.
