Top South African cyclist Gustav Basson has managed to remain positive as he recovers from injuries sustained in a car accident two months ago.
The 23-year-old, who was discharged from hospital at the end of July after undergoing surgery on a broken right upper femur, said he felt better with each day.
“I have no clue when I’ll return to racing yet,” said the TEG Procycling rider.
He said after the next batch of X-rays they would decide on the nature of his recuperation programme.
Due to it having been a clean break the doctors did not want him to do anything drastic which might prolong the healing process.
“I’m not too worried at the moment. My head is in a good space and I’m happy.
“I’ve been spending some time in the Cape with my girlfriend which has been a huge help mentally and physically.
“Also the support from my team, other teams as well as people generally has been immense.”
