Cape Pioneer Trek photos: Visualise the race

The Cape Pioneer Trek, one of the more prestigious mountain-bike stage races in the Western Cape, comprised a prologue followed by six stages. The race started in Mossel Bay and finishes in Oudtshoorn after the conclusion of the sixth and final stage.

Prologue

The prologue consisted of an 11.5km time-trial route, which started and finished at the Milkwood Primary School. The stage was won by Team Spur-Specialized’s Alan Hatherly and Simon Andreassen. View the results

Stage one

The first stage comprised a 96km race, which took place in and around Mossel Bay and started and finished at Milkwood Primary School. The stage was won by PYGA Euro Steel’s Philip Buys and Matthys Beukes. View the results

Stage two

The second stage consisted of a 114km challenge from Mossel Bay to the Van Kervel High School in George. PYGA Euro Steel’s Philip Buys and Matthys Beukes won the stage and extended their lead. View the results

Stage three

The third stage comprised a 31km time-trial, which took place in and around George, starting and finishing at the Van Kervel High School. The stage was won by Team Spur-Specialized’s Alan Hatherly and Simon Andreassen. View the results

Stage four

The fourth stage was the longest stage in the race, comprising a 114km route from George to Oudtshoorn. PYGA Euro Steel’s Philip Buys and Matthys Beukes won the stage. View the results

Stage five

Stage five consisted of a 97km route with a mountain top finish on Swartberg Mountain. The stage was won by Philip Buys and Matthys Beukes. View the results

Stage six

The 64km final stage started at the Chandelier Game Reserve, which allowed riders to enjoy some game viewing with the finish at the Queens Hotel in Oudtshoorn. Philip Buys and Matthys Beukes took the overall victory on this stage. View the results
